Why is Supreme so Popular?

Why supreme clothing?

I don't believe there is a simple answer, and this answer isn't complete - however here's a few of my thoughts:

It seems Supreme has become an industry leader and innovator without trying to be.
Hype, weekly drops, restricted distribution, long-term vision, supply and demand, unique and exclusive collaborations, celebrity endorsement, history, and high quality accessories and clothes have combined to push Supreme to the top of street (and luxury) fashion.

 

Now, Nike has NikeLab, Adidas has Kanye, and companies such as A Bathing Ape and Off White are trying to follow Supreme’s footsteps.

What makes a clothing brand hype is the combination of marketing, a really strong branding and the limited quantities. Big names using the brand, social media show off and the idea of having a unique item.

Street style has been going strong lately, with mayor brands providing street inspired products the whole market is influenced so the smaller independent brands can be part of this.

Collaborations are also doing a lot, BAPE x Adidas, Supreme x The North Face, etc… Big names making exclusive and limited products. Even Playboy had a collab with BAPE.

Good product + all limited = high demand
